Gombe State Government Warns Parents: Send Children to School or Face Jail

The Gombe State government has issued a warning to parents, stating that those who fail to send their children to school could face jail time. Babaji Babadidi, Chairman of the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board, emphasized the importance of ensuring every child has access to quality basic education.

Parents are required to ensure their children attend and complete primary and secondary education, as per Section 19(2) of the SUBEB Amendment Law 2021. The government initially offered free education but will now enforce the law, with defaulting parents facing fines or imprisonment upon conviction.

This move aims to boost school enrollment rates and guarantee education for all children in the state.
