Tinubu Critiques Atiku's Fuel Subsidy Restoration Plan

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu condemned Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, for his intention to restore the fuel subsidy that was abolished three years ago by the current administration. During a meeting with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke at the State House, Tinubu described Atiku's stance as a "serious display of ignorance" concerning governance and economic management.

He recalled that prior to the subsidy removal, 27 states struggled to pay salaries, leading to financial insolvency. Tinubu referenced Rauf Aregbesola, a former Osun State governor and current national secretary of the ADC, who he claimed had to pay half salaries during his tenure.

He expressed satisfaction with the positive financial changes in states following the subsidy removal, emphasizing the detrimental effects of the subsidy regime on state finances.
