Kwankwaso Condemns Jingir's Divisive Remarks in Kano

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the NDC, condemned comments made by Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir during a mass wedding event in Kano State. Jingir claimed Nigeria is an Islamic state and suggested that the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket is permanent.

He also alleged that a mosque bombing in Kano was perpetrated by Christians. Kwankwaso expressed deep concern over these remarks, stating they could exacerbate divisions between Christians and Muslims.

He asserted that the people of Kano do not support Jingir's divisive rhetoric and called for political and religious leaders to promote unity and reconciliation. Kwankwaso linked the controversy to the 2027 general elections, asserting that voters would have the chance to reward good governance or reject poor performance at the polls.

He emphasized the importance of leaders avoiding statements that could undermine national cohesion.
