Shell Nigeria Begins Turnaround Maintenance at Bonga FPSO to Extend Asset's Life

Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCO) has initiated turnaround maintenance at the Bonga FPSO, a vessel located approximately 120 km offshore Nigeria in water depths exceeding 1,000 meters. The maintenance program aims to extend the FPSO's operational life by 15 years, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

The FPSO has a production capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil and 150 million standard cubic feet of gas per day. This maintenance activity is crucial for supporting Nigeria's energy security and revenue objectives.

SNEPCO, in partnership with Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited and Nigerian Agip Exploration Limited, is overseeing the maintenance program. The last maintenance activity on the Bonga FPSO took place from October 2022 to February 2023, resulting in the production of the FPSO's 1 billionth barrel of oil since its inception in 2005.
