Shettima Briefs Tinubu on Maiduguri Bombings Aftermath

On a visit to Lagos, Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of Nigeria, briefed President Bola Tinubu regarding the security situation in Maiduguri following devastating bombings that occurred on a Monday evening. The attacks, which involved suicide bombings, left at least 23 people dead and injured 108 others.

The explosions took place around 7:02 PM, targeting areas near the Maiduguri market and the entrance to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. During his visit to the hospital, Shettima met with families affected by the attacks and conducted a spot review of the situation.

He condemned the bombings as unjustifiable acts that resulted in civilian casualties and assured that the federal government would provide support through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to assist the victims and manage the emergency response.
