Shettima Urges SWDC to Focus on Delivery and Collaboration

On Wednesday, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima received the management of the South West Development Commission (SWDC), led by board chairman Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Shettima articulated that the establishment of regional development commissions aims to leverage regional strengths for Nigeria's collective prosperity.

He stressed the need for the SWDC to focus on delivering its mandate efficiently, minimizing bureaucracy, and ensuring that projects are transparent and capable of attracting private investment. The Vice President highlighted the South West region's potential in innovation, education, and industry, urging the commission to collaborate with state governments, traditional institutions, and the private sector.

He reiterated the Federal Government's support for genuine regional development efforts. Senator Adetunmbi praised the Tinubu administration for its economic reforms, which led to the creation of the regional development commissions.
