Shettima Attends Funeral of Sardaunan Sokoto Alhaji

On Thursday, Vice President Kashim Shettima attended the funeral prayer of Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, the Sardaunan Sokoto, who died earlier that day following a protracted illness. The funeral prayer was conducted at the Sultan Muhammad Bello Juma’at Mosque in Sokoto and attracted a significant number of dignitaries and mourners.

Notable attendees included the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Idris Muhammad Gobir; the immediate-past governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; and the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, among others. The Chief Imam of the mosque, Malam Bello Akwara, led the prayer.

Following the prayer, Vice President Shettima and Deputy Governor Gobir visited the Sultan of Sokoto to express their condolences, describing Alhaji's passing as a monumental loss to Sokoto State and Nigeria. They acknowledged his distinguished service and contributions to national development and prayed for his family and the people of Sokoto.
