Shettima Leads Funeral for Ex-Finance Minister Alhaji

On Thursday, Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the funeral of former Minister of Finance and Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, who died at a hospital in Abuja. His burial occurred later that day in Sokoto, following Islamic customs.

The funeral prayer was conducted at the Sultan Bello Juma’at Mosque by Chief Imam Sheikh Muhammad Bello Akwara. Shettima was accompanied by key members of the Federal Executive Council, including the Minister of Labour and Employment, Alhaji Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu.

The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Engineer Idris Muhammad Gobir, represented Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, who was out of the country. The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, and the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt.

Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, were also present.

Tributes described Alhaji as a patriot and bridge builder, noting his significant contributions to national development and the Sokoto Sultanate over decades. Prayers were offered for his soul's repose.
