Shettima Promotes Nigeria's Workforce at UNGA Event

Vice President Kashim Shettima will spearhead a joint initiative by the Federal Government and the private sector to promote Nigeria's workforce to global employers during the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The event, scheduled for Thursday, is themed ‘Impact Sourcing As A Driver Of Global Trade And Inclusive Job Creation’ and will feature senior government officials, state governors, and leaders from the technology and private sectors.

Shettima will address the theme ‘Setting the global trade and impact sourcing context; Nigeria’s positioning as the next outsourcing frontier.’ This initiative follows the national launch of Hire from Nigeria on August 31, 2026, aimed at connecting Nigerian talent with global job opportunities. Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, emphasized the goal of increasing Nigeria's participation in global trade.

Other notable attendees include Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago. This forum is part of a broader talent-export strategy initiated by Shettima since 2024.
