Shettima Engages in Key Talks at BRICS Summit in India

Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of Nigeria, returned from the BRICS Summit held in India, where he participated in high-level sessions and bilateral engagements aimed at promoting Nigeria's economic and diplomatic interests. A significant engagement was his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where they discussed various sectors including crude oil trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, defence, digital technology, fintech, and renewable energy.

Additionally, Shettima met with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, to reaffirm Nigeria's commitment to multilateralism and a more inclusive global economic order. During the summit, Shettima delivered a message from President Bola Tinubu advocating for reforms in global governance and financial institutions, positioning Nigeria as a gateway to Africa's expanding market under the African Continental Free Trade Area.

The summit also served as a platform for Nigeria to enhance its engagement with BRICS member countries in sectors such as agriculture, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and healthcare.
