Shipi Supports 2026 Africa Challenge Trophy in Abuja

Brig Gen Gakji Goshw Shipi, a retired officer and special adviser on security to the Plateau State government, pledged his full support for the success of the 2026 Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) during a courtesy visit from the leadership of the Ladi Golf Association Nigeria (LGAN), led by President Dr. Lami Ahm. Shipi recognized the AACT as Africa's flagship women's golf championship and praised the contributions of LGAN to the growth of women's golf in Nigeria.

He emphasized the importance of sports as a unifying force in the country, despite prevailing security challenges. Shipi assured LGAN of his commitment to support the tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Abuja from November 2 to 7, 2026, with participation expected from 30 African countries.

Dr. Ahm highlighted the potential of the championship to boost tourism and encourage youth participation in golf, reinforcing Nigeria's reputation as a leading golf destination on the continent.
