Nigeria Issues Shoot-on-Sight Order for Terrorists

The Nigerian Defence Minister has announced a shoot-on-sight order for terrorists and bandits, instructing troops to take immediate action upon identifying these criminals without waiting for further orders. This directive comes amid rising violence in Nigeria's northwest, which has seen increased killings, kidnappings, and cattle rustling.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of a security equipment package worth N27.127 billion, procured by the Sokoto State Government, which includes 62 operational vehicles, armored personnel carriers, tactical vehicles, 300 motorcycles, and bulletproof vests. The Defence Minister praised the Sokoto State Government's investment in security, urging proper maintenance of the equipment to enhance rapid response capabilities.

The order marks a significant shift in the government's approach to tackling security challenges, moving towards a more aggressive stance against criminal elements that have plagued the nation for over a decade.
