Atiku Abubakar Poised for ADC Presidential Ticket, Says Showunmi

In a social media post on Thursday, Showunmi, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), expressed confidence that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will clinch the presidential ticket for the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He noted Atiku's political strength and readiness for the race, while acknowledging competition from former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi, whom he described as Atiku's closest rival.

Showunmi provided a broader assessment of Nigeria's political climate, pointing out growing dissatisfaction among voters, particularly in the northern region, where there are deep-seated grievances. He cautioned political actors against abandoning loyal alliances, suggesting that such actions could backfire and redefine alliances ahead of the polls.

Showunmi portrayed Atiku as fully committed to the race, stressing his readiness and vigor in pursuing the contest. He identified the South East as a crucial region for determining electoral outcomes, while expressing uncertainty about voting patterns in the South West and underscoring the importance of the North Central region as a critical swing bloc.
