Sidi Ould Tah Assumes AfDB Presidency, Pledges Prosperity for Africa

Sidi Ould Tah has officially taken over as the ninth President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, succeeding Nigeria's Akinwumi Adesina. Tah, a Mauritanian economist, won the election during the AfDB annual meeting in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

In his inaugural address, Tah pledged to continue the legacy of his predecessor and focus on addressing Africa's pressing challenges like debt sustainability and climate change. He emphasized consultation and collegiality with stakeholders to achieve a prosperous Africa.

Tah thanked outgoing President Adesina and the leaders of Côte d'Ivoire for their support. This transition marks the beginning of a new era for the premier development finance institution in Africa.
