Anambra State Ends School Closure on Mondays Amid Sit-at-Home Threats

The Anambra State government has issued an executive order to end the closure of schools on Mondays, a response to the sit-at-home directive. Failure to comply will lead to salary deductions or forfeitures for teachers and non-tutorial staff.

The decision was made during a state executive retreat presided over by Governor Chukwuma Soludo. The order aims to ensure that schools operate normally on Mondays.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had previously declared sit-at-home protests every Monday, starting in August 2021 until their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is released from prison.
