Six Aspirants Compete for Kwara Governorship Seat

Six aspirants are vying for the Kwara governorship seat, as stated by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. On Tuesday, he dismissed speculation regarding endorsing a successor ahead of the 2027 governorship race, asserting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will conduct open, merit-based primaries.

AbdulRazaq emphasized that no one would be anointed as a candidate, as he aims to avoid creating a political dynasty and instead build a legacy. He highlighted that the eventual candidate will emerge through a competitive process without formal zoning arrangements.

The governor described the contest as tough and healthy, promoting internal democracy within the party. He urged aspirants to maintain unity during the primaries and to support the eventual winner to foster cohesion.

AbdulRazaq also praised party members for their unity and noted the collapse of opposition parties in Kwara State, particularly the People's Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress. He credited his administration's achievements in infrastructure, education, and healthcare over the past six years.
