Six Bandits Killed in Failed Zamfara Community Attack

On Tuesday, at approximately 11 AM, a large group of armed bandits attempted to invade Kanoma Town in Gidan Daji Village, located in the Kanoma District of Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The assailants were equipped with sophisticated weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades, general-purpose machine guns, anti-aircraft guns, and AK-47 rifles.

Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, reported that a joint security team, comprising tactical operatives from the police and military personnel attached to Operation Fansar Yamma, responded to a distress call. They engaged the bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to retreat and preventing the attack from succeeding.

Six bandits were neutralized during the operation, while several others escaped into a nearby forest with gunshot wounds. No casualties were reported among security personnel or residents.

Security reinforcements have been deployed to the area to maintain peace and track down the fleeing suspects.
