Family Demands Arrest of Suspects in Osun Teen's Death

The family of 14-year-old Ezekiel Olapade, who was fatally shot on June 21, 2026, in Ilobu, Osun State, is demanding the arrest of eight suspects allegedly involved in his death. The incident occurred when armed men opened fire near a palm wine joint opposite the local government secretariat.

Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen advanced towards the area and opened fire, mistakenly hitting Olapade, who was not the intended target. The Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed that Olapade was struck by a bullet during the shooting and was hospitalized.

The primary suspect, Kareem Sahe, is alleged to be the leader of the attack, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him and his accomplices. The family’s solicitor has urged the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, to initiate a comprehensive investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

The family is determined to see that the suspects are arrested promptly to prevent evidence compromise and witness intimidation.
