Governor Aliyu Engages Councillors to Boost Democracy

Sokoto State Governor Ahmadu Aliyu convened a meeting with 23 local government council chairmen, vice chairmen, and 244 councillors to discuss strategies for strengthening grassroots democracy. During the meeting, Aliyu emphasized the importance of grassroots governance as a vital segment of society that cannot be overlooked.

He urged local government councils to initiate similar projects within their respective areas to ensure the benefits of democracy are realized. The governor also examined the progress and challenges faced during the ongoing voter registration exercise, expressing appreciation for the impressive turnout of APC supporters.

He called on party members who have yet to register to do so without delay. Furthermore, Aliyu assessed the strengths and weaknesses of the APC across the 23 local government areas to enable proactive measures.

The state APC chairman, Isa Saddiq Achida, commended Governor Aliyu for his efforts in engaging the people and the party.
