Sokoto Governor Aliyu Vows to Intensify Fight Against Bandits

On Wednesday, Sokoto State Governor Ahmadu Aliyu met with Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The meeting focused on intensifying operations to curb violent crime and banditry in Sokoto State.

Governor Aliyu expressed his belief that protecting the lives and properties of citizens is a collective responsibility, not solely that of the federal government. He highlighted that security remains a cornerstone of his administration's 9-point SMART agenda.

Aliyu disclosed that 200 patrol vehicles have been procured and distributed to security agencies as part of a broader logistical support plan aimed at improving rapid response operations. He acknowledged that banditry continues to pose a significant threat but urged security forces to maintain momentum and cooperation among agencies.

The governor also challenged the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Hayatu Hassan, to build a legacy in response to the IGP's praise of Sokoto State's commitment to security operations.
