Sokoto Monarchs Commit to Peace and Conflict Resolution

Traditional rulers in Sokoto State, represented by Alhaji Sani Umar Jabbi, the district head of Gagi, committed to assisting the state government in developing partnerships for conflict and dispute resolution. This pledge was made during a roundtable discussion organized by Save the Children Initiative, which included various stakeholders such as religious leaders, pastoralists, farmers, business groups, youth, women, and people living with disabilities.

Hajiya Rukayya Ibrahim, representing Save the Children Initiative, highlighted the importance of routine community meetings to address disputes and promote peaceful coexistence. The discussion focused on community challenges, particularly regarding resource management and access.

Mika Iel Abubakar commended the initiative for facilitating extensive discussions that aim to identify sustainable solutions to resource access issues and avert potential clashes, especially between farmers and herders.
