Sokoto State Government Continues Foreign Scholarship Program

The Sokoto State Government, led by Deputy Governor Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, has announced its commitment to continue sponsoring qualified indigenes to study professional courses abroad, specifically in India and Pakistan. This initiative is designed to produce skilled manpower in areas where the state faces shortages.

Alhaji Idris Gobir emphasized that the government will only fund students pursuing courses not offered in Nigeria. He urged the beneficiaries to act as good ambassadors for Sokoto State and to avoid any actions that could lead to trouble while studying.

Gobir also encouraged them to focus on their studies to justify the significant investment made by the government. Additionally, Alhaji Kabir Labaran, the Permanent Secretary of the State Scholarship Board, expressed gratitude to the state government for its dedication to enhancing educational standards.

He noted that Governor Ahmed Aliyu's administration has settled billions of naira in debts owed to various higher institutions, both domestically and internationally.
