Sokoto State University Seeks Staff Recruitment Approval

Sokoto State University, established in 2009, is seeking approval from the Sokoto State government to recruit additional academic staff to support the expansion of its faculties and academic programs. Vice Chancellor Prof.
Muhammad Bello Yarima made this appeal on a Saturday during a combined convocation ceremony for the fourth to eighth sets of graduates. The university currently has three faculties and is awaiting approval to establish five more, along with 22 additional academic programs from the National Universities Commission.
This expansion is expected to increase the university's faculty from eight to nine, enhancing its admission quota and student population. Yarima proposed new programs in software engineering, cybersecurity, medicine, and nursing, aimed at addressing the nation's manpower needs.
He also introduced a monthly public lecture series to promote knowledge sharing and strengthen research. The university has benefited from TETFund interventions for infrastructure and staff development, with 42 students graduating with first-class honors during the convocation.
