Nigerian Troops Kill Nine Militants in Zamfara, Katsina

Nigerian troops from Sector 2, operating in Zamfara and Katsina states, successfully foiled terrorist attacks between May 1 and May 3, resulting in the deaths of nine militants, including two identified kingpins. The operations were led by Lt.

Col. Olaniyi Osoba, who reported that troops engaged suspected terrorists along the Turar-Yantumaki road in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area, Katsina State, where four militants were killed during a firefight.

The troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, two magazines of ammunition, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, and cash totaling 153,000 Naira. In a separate operation in Anka Local Government Area, Zamfara State, troops killed five militants, including a notorious kingpin known as Anaruwa Gomina, who is the younger brother of a known bandit leader in the area.

The confrontation began along the Bagega-Anka road, leading to the recovery of additional weapons and motorcycles. Troops continued to pursue fleeing suspects, resulting in the death of two more militants on May 3, while one soldier was confirmed killed during the operations.
