Nigerian Army Rescues 16 Civilians in Zamfara Attacks

On August 28, 2026, troops of the Nigerian Army successfully thwarted separate terrorist attacks in Zamfara State, rescuing a total of 16 civilians. In the early hours, troops deployed in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area responded to a distress call regarding an ongoing invasion by suspected terrorists.

The troops engaged the assailants with superior firepower, forcing them to flee and rescuing four male civilians unharmed. Later that day, in Tsafe Local Government Area, troops intercepted another attempted abduction of commuters along a major transit route.

They engaged the attackers in a heavy firefight, compelling them to abandon their captives. A total of 12 passengers traveling in two commercial vehicles were rescued without injuries.

Following these operations, normal traffic flow was restored, and security measures were enhanced to prevent further attacks, underscoring the troops' commitment to protecting civilians and maintaining security in Zamfara State.
