Nigerian Troops Arrest Foreign Nationals Linked to Insecurity

Daniel Bwala, a special adviser to President Bola Tinubu, confirmed that Nigerian troops have arrested foreign nationals suspected of being linked to insecurity in the country. This disclosure was made during a podcast discussion on Echoroom, published on Friday.

Bwala emphasized the importance of addressing foreign interference in Nigeria's internal affairs, particularly concerning national security and economic interests, including the country's oil resources. He referenced demonstrations in northern Nigeria, including Kano, where individuals were seen lifting Russian flags.

The military has deliberately withheld the identities of the arrested foreign nationals for security reasons and has refused to disclose the countries involved. Bwala noted that the military's actions are part of ongoing diplomatic engagements.

He also addressed concerns regarding the Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) involvement in funding terrorism in Nigeria but did not confirm any claims. Bwala criticized the previous administration of Muhammadu Buhari for its handling of military operations and acknowledged improvements under President Tinubu.
