Troops Neutralise Terrorists, Recover Weapons in North West

On September 2, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, conducted operations in Zamfara and Kaduna states, resulting in the neutralisation of several terrorists and the recovery of significant arms and ammunition. In Zamfara, Sector 2 troops ambushed terrorists moving from the Fakai General Area towards Kwanar Jolof and Tashar Dole, successfully neutralising scores of them.

They recovered a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, an RPG bomb, an AK-47 rifle, six AK-47 magazines, 106 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle. In Kaduna, Sector 1 troops intercepted a vehicle at a checkpoint along the Saulawa-Zaria Road, where a passenger resisted a search and attempted to flee, leading to his neutralisation.

A search revealed 793 rounds of ammunition concealed in garri. The vehicle and its driver are in military custody for further investigation.

Lt Col Aliyu Danja stated that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace in the North-West.
