Soldiers Recover 257 Stolen Livestock in Kano Operation

On March 1, 2026, at 6:57 AM, soldiers from the Nigerian Army's 3 Brigade, under the command of Major Babatunde Zubairu, responded to a distress call regarding cattle rustling in Mainika Village, Gwarzo Local Government Area, Kano State. The troops successfully foiled an attempt by bandits to rustle cattle, engaging them in an ambush at Dayi Village.

The operation resulted in the recovery of 257 livestock, comprising 135 cows, 119 sheep, 1 goat, and 2 donkeys. The bandits, upon encountering the joint task force, fled towards Malumfashi Local Government Area in Katsina State, abandoning the stolen animals.

Brigadier General Ahmad Tukur commended the bravery and gallantry of the troops, highlighting their high morale and the vital support from local communities that contributed to the operation's success. The statement concluded that the task force would continue to intensify efforts to secure the area and ensure the safety of lives and property.
