Troops Rescue 16 Civilians, Repel Terrorist Attacks

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued 16 civilians from separate attempted abductions in Zamfara State and repelled a terrorist attack in Sokoto State. The military's Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, reported that on August 28, troops responded to a distress call in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, where they rescued four civilians after terrorists fled the scene.

In a subsequent operation in Tsafe Local Government Area, troops engaged terrorists attempting to abduct 12 passengers in two vehicles, successfully rescuing all without any casualties among the troops. In Sokoto State, terrorists attacked near Jabo Village but were repelled by troops, resulting in two civilians sustaining gunshot wounds, who were evacuated for medical treatment.

Danja emphasized the determination of the troops to protect civilians and thwart terrorist activities across the region.
