Troops Rescue 48 Kidnap Victims in Zamfara Operation

On July 26, troops of the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued 48 kidnapped victims in Magami village, located in the Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara. The operation was initiated after troops received a distress call regarding a terrorist attack by heavily armed individuals on motorcycles.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, reported that the attackers had rounded up numerous villagers with the intent of abducting them. Upon arrival, the troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, compelling them to abandon the victims and flee.

While all 48 civilians were rescued, one civilian was killed, and two others sustained gunshot injuries, necessitating their evacuation to the General Hospital in Kaura Namoda for treatment. Following the rescue, troops conducted aggressive patrols to prevent further attacks.

The Theatre Command commended the troops for their professionalism and urged the public to provide timely intelligence to enhance security efforts in the region.
