Soldiers Rescue Six Kidnap Victims in Katsina State

On June 29, 2026, troops from the 17 Brigade Nigerian Army successfully rescued six individuals who had been kidnapped in Katsina State. The victims, comprising four women and two young boys, managed to escape their captors while wandering in the bush and were intercepted by soldiers conducting a routine foot patrol in the Faskari Local Government Area.

The victims were identified as Mr. Umaima Isiaku (30), Amina Isiaku (16), Safiya Isiaku (15), Ramatu Suleiman (30), Muhammad Shehu (4), and Ibrahim Suleiman (2).

Preliminary investigations indicated that they were abducted by armed bandits from Unguwan Lado in Kankara Local Government Area on June 22, 2026. Following their rescue, the victims received first aid, food, and essential support before being reunited with their families.

Brigadier General Ishaya Ibrahim, the commander of the 17 Brigade, reaffirmed the army's commitment to ongoing operations against criminal elements in the region to ensure the safety and security of lives and property.
