Nigerian Soldiers Killed in Sokoto Ambush Laid to Rest

Three Nigerian soldiers lost their lives in an ambush involving an improvised explosive device during a security operation in Isa Local Government Area, Sokoto State. They were laid to rest on Saturday following a funeral prayer held at Giginya Barrack in Sokoto.

The ceremony was attended by Sokoto State Deputy Governor Idris Muhammad Gobir, who represented Governor Ahmadu Aliyu. Gobir described the deceased as heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect residents from criminal elements.

He urged the families and colleagues of the fallen soldiers to remain steadfast in the face of their loss. The Deputy Governor reiterated the Sokoto State government's commitment to supporting security agencies in their ongoing efforts to combat banditry and restore peace in communities affected by criminal activities.

Following the funeral, Gobir visited injured security personnel receiving treatment at a hospital, assuring them of the government's continued support. The Isa Local Government Area is located along the Kamuku Kuyambana forest corridor, which extends into Shinkafi Local Government Area in Zamfara State, an area known for persistent bandit activity.
