Soludo Appoints Esther Onyekesi as Women Affairs Commissioner

Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has appointed Esther Chinyer Onyekesi as the new Commissioner for Women Affairs.

Esther is the mother of Martin Onyekesi, a businessman popularly known as "Fish Magnet," who was murdered last year during a kidnapping incident. The appointment comes amid ongoing discussions about the political implications of Martin Onyekesi's death, which sparked protests led by social media activist Martin Vincent Ots, known as "Dark Man." Despite the political context surrounding the murder, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra has maintained that the appointment is not politically motivated.

Esther Onyekesi's name was included in a list of 18 nominees submitted to the Anambra State House of Assembly for screening. The list also features other nominees for various ministries, including agriculture, education, and health, among others.

The confirmation of the nominees is expected to occur during a plenary session.
