Soludo Warns Against Budget Duplication in Anambra

Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo warned against the duplication and inflation of the 2027 budget proposal during the inauguration of the committee on next year’s appropriation in Awka.

He urged committee members to focus on evidence-based projects with realistic projections and accurate costing. Speaking through the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr.

Chukwukadibia Okoye, Soludo emphasized the importance of a transparent and people-driven budget process, describing the budget as “the heartbeat of governance.” He directed the committee to maintain discipline, integrity, and transparency, with a zero-tolerance policy towards inflation and duplications. Soludo also highlighted the need to prioritize the completion of ongoing projects and to address critical needs such as erosion control.

Mrs. Chinyere Nwabachili, the Permanent Secretary, presented the 2027 budget calendar, while Dr.

Christy Akabuo, Head of Budget, noted that bilateral sessions would align spending with priorities and fiscal sustainability. Prince Chris Azor, Chairman of ACSONet, pledged civil society support for a transparent process.
