Veteran Nigerian actor Olaiya Igwe addressed rumors regarding his health after a video of him appearing unwell circulated on social media on Thursday, September 10, 2026. The video led to public concern about his well-being.

Olaiya clarified that the footage was taken during the filming of a movie directed by fellow actor and filmmaker Mr Latin, where he portrayed a sick father. He expressed his displeasure towards individuals who celebrated the false reports and seemed to wish for his death.

In a statement on his Instagram page, Olaiya assured fans, colleagues, and the public that he is in good health and has no issues related to the viral video. He stated, “I have seen some stupid set of people wishing me to die,” and emphasized that he was merely acting.

He thanked those who genuinely checked on him and warned those wishing him ill that “evil will be their portion.”.
