Woman Sets Family Ablaze in Kano; Victims Hospitalized

In Kano, a woman named Khadija allegedly set her husband, co-wife, and two children ablaze late Monday night in the Hotoro Quarter. The incident occurred around 3 AM, following a distress call received by the family.

Khadija, 28 years old, reportedly had been married for less than two weeks and had brought her stepchildren from a previous marriage into the home. The victims, Ismail, aged 7, and another child aged 3, are currently receiving treatment at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.

Their father, Malam Saminu, sustained burns while attempting to rescue them and is also undergoing treatment. Firdausi Buhari Musa, Khadija's younger brother, disclosed that Khadija had previously complained of threats and intimidation from her co-wife, Rukayya, who allegedly poured petrol and lit a match.

The Kano State Police Command has been informed, but efforts to file a report were unsuccessful at the time.
