South Sudan Mining Officials Seek Partnership with MCO

On Friday, South Sudan mining officials, led by Mr. Jame Kundu, Director General of the South Sudan Mining Corporation, visited the headquarters of MCO in Abuja.

The purpose of the visit was to seek partnership opportunities in the mining sector, coinciding with the conclusion of the African Natural Resources and Energy Investment (AFNI) summit held in Abuja. Engr.

Obadiah Nkom, the head of MCO, indicated that a memorandum of understanding had already been approved by Dr. Dele Alak, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, to facilitate cooperation between the two countries.

During the visit, Nkom provided insights into MCO's advancements, including the implementation of a fully automated web page system and the migration to an electronic mining cadastral system. Kundu noted that South Sudan's cadastral office, established in 2015, had engaged several experts to upgrade its operational systems, which had not been successful until the recent opportunity presented by AFNI.

The discussions emphasized the spirit of African brotherhood and the potential for mutual benefit in the mining sector.
