Sowore Demands Apology Over Fuel Subsidy Removal

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) for the 2027 general elections, demanded an apology from politicians who previously held public office but now support policies that have exacerbated hardship in Nigeria. He made this demand on Monday at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Sowore challenged the records of Rotimi Amaechi, the vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress and former Minister of Transportation, and Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress. He stated that he has consistently opposed the removal of fuel subsidies, asserting that politicians who now support the policy had recently changed their positions.

Sowore argued that the subsidy removal has primarily benefited state governments while ordinary Nigerians face increased living costs. He criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu for shifting the economic burden onto citizens and urged Nigerians to reject misleading political narratives regarding subsidy issues.
