Sowore Offers Support to DJ Chicken Amid Legal Troubles

Omoyele Sowore, the president of the African Action Congress, publicly offered to assist DJ Chicken, a TikTok personality whose real name is Ademola Abiodun, following his arraignment on charges including alleged threats against Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu. Sowore expressed his concerns about the burdensome charges against DJ Chicken, who he believes does not deserve to be imprisoned.

He stated that young Nigerians should be entitled to liberty and guidance rather than facing endless incarceration. DJ Chicken was arraigned on three counts, including alleged threats to kill and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, stemming from a viral video where he made comments about the 2027 presidential election.

After pleading not guilty, he was granted bail of N1 million with two sureties and was remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the fulfillment of bail conditions. The case is adjourned until August 3, 2026.
