Sowunmi Urges PDP to Rebuild or Face Collapse

Sowunmi, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and former presidential spokesperson, has issued a warning to the party to urgently rebuild its internal structure or risk collapse. This statement comes in the wake of a recent court ruling that consolidated judgments in nine cases stemming from the party's leadership crisis.

Sowunmi asserts that legal victories alone cannot confer political legitimacy within the party. He attributes the ongoing internal crisis to failures in respecting zoning arrangements and the recent defection of a PDP governor, which he describes as worrying.

Sowunmi cautions that failure to address these internal issues will weaken the party and create opportunities for opposition platforms. He also highlights the importance of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in strengthening the PDP in the South West and calls for a shift away from person-driven leadership.

Additionally, he notes that disunity within the opposition party could diminish their chances against the ruling party, especially in light of rising crude oil prices affecting fuel costs.
