Laia Lopez Leads Spain to U-20 Women's World Cup Victory

Spain triumphed over defending champions DPR Korea in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup final held in Lodz, Poland, on September 28, 2026. The match ended goalless after 120 minutes, leading to a penalty shootout where Spanish goalkeeper Laia Lopez emerged as the hero by saving two penalties from Choe Yon-A and Pak Il-Sim.

This victory marked Spain's second U-20 Women’s World Cup title, following their first win in Costa Rica in 2022. During the match, Lopez also made a critical save against DPR Korea's Ho Kyong, who had come on as a substitute.
