Crisis in House of Representatives as Speaker Intervenes in Minority Leader Dispute

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas, intervened in the crisis surrounding the position of Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda. Chinda, a PDP lawmaker and ally of Minister Nyesom Wike, faced opposition within his caucus.

Tensions rose during a meeting where some lawmakers demanded Chinda's removal, but he had obtained a court order preventing this. The Federal High Court in Abuja restrained any party, including Speaker Abbas, from removing Chinda pending further legal proceedings.

Chinda's failure to convene caucus meetings and allegations of weakening the opposition bloc led to the current turmoil.
