APC Primaries: Abbas, Kalu, Elumelu, and Buhari's Son Win

In the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Deputy Benjamin Kalu secured their candidacies for the 2027 general elections. Abbas emerged unopposed as the APC candidate for Zaria, Kaduna State, while Kalu was affirmed by party members for a third term in Abia State.

Ndudi Elumelu won the APC primary in Delta State. Notably, Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former president Muhammadu Buhari, won the primary for the Sandamu Daura Mai Adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State, receiving 6,386 votes against Auwal Daura, who garnered 322 votes.

The primaries faced scrutiny, with 14 aspirants disqualified, and criticisms arose regarding the transparency of the process. APC officials described the primaries as peaceful and credible, despite allegations of irregularities in some areas.

The primaries were conducted across various constituencies, with several candidates emerging as consensus choices.
