SSANU Urges Government to Rescue Abducted Borno Children

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has called on the Federal Government to enhance efforts for the rescue of schoolchildren abducted in Borno State. This appeal was made by SSANU's National President, Comrade Mohammed Hassan Ibrahim, during the 55th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi.

Ibrahim pointed out that while pupils abducted in Oyo State were rescued, 42 children kidnapped on the same day in Borno State remain missing. He expressed concern over the lack of information regarding their condition and emphasized that national development cannot occur in an insecure environment.

Ibrahim recalled the successful rescue operation in Oyo State, which involved multiple security agencies and resulted in the Senate approving N50 million for the families of victims. He urged that the same urgency be applied to the Borno case, asserting that every Nigerian child's life holds equal value, regardless of their background.
