Nigeria's Tourism Sector to Transform with New Framework

Stakeholders and Big Home Nigeria are set to transform Nigeria's tourism industry by unveiling a new infrastructure development framework in Abuja. The Nigerian Tourism Development Initiative (NTDI) aims to unlock the country's cultural, historical, and natural assets for both domestic and international visitors.

Phil Robert, Executive Director of the Tourism Volunteer Network, emphasized the need for improved infrastructure, such as roads, electricity, housing, and security, to enhance tourist experiences. A memorandum of understanding was signed to design Abuja as a pilot model for tourism infrastructure, with plans to replicate this model nationwide.

Key tourism zones have been identified, including Aso Rock and Jabi Lake. Topsi Essien, Managing Director of Big Home Nigeria, reaffirmed the company's commitment to developing sustainable tourism-friendly communities.

The initiative is set to culminate in the Infrastructure Tourism Development Summit scheduled for September 24, 2026, coinciding with World Tourism Day.
