Stakeholders Discuss N712bn Upgrade for MMIA

Stakeholders gathered to set an agenda for the N712 billion refurbishment of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The initiative aims to address long-standing infrastructure deficits and enhance the airport's status as a major regional hub capable of handling 30 million passengers annually.

The discussion, led by Ademola Onitiju, emphasized the importance of strategic planning and private sector participation to ensure the project's long-term value. Olubunmi Kuku highlighted Nigeria's potential as a continental hub due to its population size and rising travel demand.

The upgrade is expected to improve various facilities, including terminal expansions and advanced air traffic systems, thereby boosting efficiency and safety. Stakeholders stressed the need for ongoing reforms and the adoption of public-private partnerships to attract investment and maintain global competitiveness in the aviation sector.
