Stallions Face Tough Pool in Africa Men’s Sevens Qualifier

The Stallions, Nigeria's senior men's rugby sevens team, have been placed in Pool A alongside Zimbabwe, Ghana, and Morocco for the 2026 Africa Men’s Sevens Series. This competition serves as the African qualifier for the 2027 World Rugby SVNS 3 and is scheduled for September 26 and 27, 2023, in Kampala, Uganda.

To advance to the semi-finals, the Stallions must finish among the top two teams in their group. The winner of the tournament will secure Africa's qualification for the 2027 SVNS 3 circuit.

Uganda will host the tournament, which features eight teams, including Zambia, Tunisia, and Senegal in Pool B. This event marks Nigeria's return to the international sevens circuit after previously missing out on global competitions.

The tournament was initially planned as a 12-team event in Mauritius but was postponed due to an Ebola outbreak. The Africa Men’s Sevens tournament is still set to occur in Mauritius in October.
