Bayelsa Declares Public Holiday for Tinubu's Visit

The Bayelsa State Government has announced that Friday, April 10, 2026, will be a public holiday, and all markets across the state will be closed in anticipation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's visit. This announcement was made on Thursday by Ebiuw Koku Obiyai, the state commissioner for information and orientation.

The state is fully prepared to receive the President during his official visit, which aims to inaugurate four significant legacy projects. The work-free day is intended to allow residents to participate in activities planned for the President's visit.

During his trip, President Tinubu is expected to inaugurate several key infrastructure projects, including a state-owned gas turbine located in Opolo and a 60-kilometer dual carriageway stretch, as well as a 630-meter bridge connecting Angiama and Oporoma in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area. The state government has urged residents, including traders, to comply with the directives to ensure a successful visit.
