STEMM Initiative to Transform Nigeria's Education System

Dr. Adeola Salau, serving as the special adviser to the Federal Ministry of Education on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM), emphasized the transformative potential of the STEMM initiative for Nigeria's education system.

Speaking at the 10th anniversary of the Bunmi Adedayo Foundation (BAF) in Lagos, she noted that STEMM will shift classroom learning beyond theoretical instruction, encouraging teachers to facilitate experiential learning rather than mere memorization. Dr.

Salau highlighted the importance of equipping students with critical thinking and problem-solving skills to prepare them for complex future scenarios. She commended the BAF for its decade-long commitment to educational interventions and called for collaboration with the private sector to align educational systems with industry needs.

Dr. Salau also stressed the necessity of providing teachers with the tools and resources required to effectively engage students in STEMM practices.
