Efik Women Leader Condemns Violence Against ADC Members

Obonganwan Barbara Jame, a prominent leader of Efik women in Cross River State, has publicly condemned the recent attacks on members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Bakassi. These incidents occurred during a political event on March 14, 2026, and were allegedly orchestrated by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jame described the attacks as lawless and called for political leaders to set a positive tone for the upcoming 2027 election season. She emphasized that the risk of escalating violence and insecurity could extend beyond politics if not addressed.

Jame urged the state governor, local government chairmen, and leaders of political parties to robustly denounce such violence, asserting that failure to do so could lead to increased societal unrest. She highlighted the need for accountability, calling for the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the attacks, and warned that political violence would not be tolerated in Cross River State.
